Abstract
The paper presents the results of preliminary investigations at Birnam, in the Rhodes area of the eastern Cape Drakensberg, which may have important implications for palaeoenvironmental reconstructions in Southern Africa. A study has been undertaken on a sedimentary sequence exposed by fluvial incision on the outer bend of the River Bokspruit, at an altitude of 1850 m.
